CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION / TRAINING PERIOD

TRAINING PERIOD:

The training is for a minimum of three (3) years

UNIFORM:

the school provides students with uniform which will be paid for by students.

DAMAGES:

Damage to school/Hospital property will have to repaired or paid for immediately.

HOLIDAYS:

Holiday period will be Twenty one (21) days per year.

SICK LEAVE/ABSENCE FROM DUTY:

Any absence from duty for whatever reason that is in excess of twenty eight (28) days during the period of training must be made up before the student can sit for Nursing and Midwifery council Examination.

Any absence from duty/ school for sixty (60) days shall be considered as a break in training and that year of training must be completed in full.

PROGRESS:

The student health conduct, theoretical and practical work must remain satisfactory throughout the course. Where a student fails to meet the required standard his / her course of training will be terminated by the school authority.

PRELIMINARY TEST SCREENING FOR STUDENTS (P.T.S)

This compulsory examination is done six (6) months after admission.

Student must pass ALL THE COURSES, failure in any subject will attract termination of training.

A letter of good standing from parent/guardian must be submitted on resumption.

STRIKE ACTION:

No student is allowed to embark on any strike action throughout the duration of training.

PREGNANCY:

Please take note that pregnancy is not allowed while in training, however if a student gets pregnant, she has to meet the requirements in terms of attendance and examination. She must observe the three (3) months compulsory maternity leave and later resume classes at the level of training where she stopped.

TEST/ EXAMINATIONS:

All students are required to sit for all school test /examinations. Any student who absents himself /herself from sitting any test /Examination will be regarded as having failed that Examination.

All students are expected to pass all the courses/ subject in the introductory Block examination.

Wards and Hostel reports form an important part of training. Poor conduct will result in termination of training.

SCHOOL FINAL EXAMINATION:

This examination is taken during the final year and any student who fails this examination is NOT allowed to sit for the Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria qualifying Examination, but must wait for another SIX (6) months to resit and pass the examination.

Failure to resit examination results in either a withdrawal or demotion to year 2.

FEEDING

Students are responsible for their own feeding. Cafeteria shopping centre are available.

HEALTH:

The school provides emergency services, but were a student suffer from any serious disease, you are strongly advised to defer the admission.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION:

  • Each student is expected to produce medical certificate of fitness such as:
  • CHEST X-RAY with report.
  • URINE TEST result for (a) Pregnancy, (b) Albumin, (c) Sugar.
  • BLOOD TEST for HIV,PCV, FBC, Genotype, Blood Group, Hepatitis B.
PLEASE NOTE: Medical examination test are to be done in the Hospital (FMC ASABA) within the first week of resumption.
