Our History

The college of nursing was initially established by Honorable Ndudi Elumelu as a primary Health care Centre to cater for the well being of the people in his constituency as a constituency project sometimes 2014. It was handed over to federal medical Centre Asaba in 2018 as approved by the minister of health. As management was grappling to take off, the management of the hospital got the green light for the establishment of a college of nursing for the training of health care professionals. It was also aimed at triggering other developmental projects and commerce in this quiet beautiful town. After a rigorous preparation, the school got its accreditation from the nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria for training in basic nursing and basic midwifery on the September 2024.

Before the accreditation, the hospital had a set of Neonatal post basic Nurse undergoing an online training on Neonatal care. The Nursing council was approached to formalize their training and get this set of Nurse formally certified and registered as Neonatal Nurses.
This gave a great support for the approval of the college as the first college approved for the training of Neonatal Nurse in training of Neonatal Nurses in Nigeria.

The first batch of Nurses thirty-five (35) in number from various parts of the country sat for the council final qualifying examination for the post basic training in may 2024 and made a hundred percent pass. The basic Nursing training took off on the 5th of May 2024. 

The college currently offers Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery and Post Basic  Neonatal Nursing.
